In order to reduce the lost that when the license server break down and the users cannot work, you may want to setup a backup license server. So how to setup a backup license server?
Solution:
There are two ways:
1. Make an alternative server, but you will need to separate the license manually and assign them to two servers. For example, a network license contains 100 nodes, you can activate 50 nodes on one server, and then activate another 50 nodes on another server, Then, when setting up in the workstation, you can check the “Enable alternative server” options and input the second server address.
2. Use reduntant server. You can use the LF version of NLM suite, this version is specialized for reduntant server, to use this version, you need to prepare three server, and make sure two of them can work correctly. Also you need get the special license, normally, we provide the network license for TS mode, which is for the alternative server. Make sure that the license is for LF mode. LF mode is older than TS, and not so secure than TS, and the configuration is a little complex, so most of our customers choose TS mode.
