Most companies use network licenses within the company's LAN. When users travel to other places or return home, how can they request floating licenses for ZWSOFT application software via the Internet?

If the company has a public WAN IP address, it can map the intranet server IP and ports to WAN, so as to realize remote acquisition of network license through the WAN.

Steps Guide:

With public IP, you can set up port mapping in the router, to map the intranet port used by an application to the WAN IP for access. After the port mapping is set, the user's computer on the external Internet can accesses the WAN IP address on the router, and the access request will be automatically forwarded to the set intranet server.

Before setting the port mapping in the router, first fix the port used by the ZWSOFT Network License service.

1. On the server computer, open the install directory of the ZWSOFT Network License Manager, the default file directory is C:\Program Files\ZWSOFT\ZWSOFT Network License Manager. Open LicenseFile.lic with Notepad to modify the license file, and write a fixed port number. There is a space between the port number and the previous letter, and the port number must be a port not occupied by other programs.

As shown in the picture below, SERVER this_host ANY is appointed the port 27000 (27000 is the ZWSOFT Network License service port). VENDOR zwflex OPTIONS=zwflex.opt is appointed the port 63600 (this port is arbitrarily designated and opened by the user, and numbers after 50000 are recommended), and then save the LicenseFile.lic file.

2. After the port is fixed, the ZWSOFT Network License service needs to be restarted to take effect. Open the ZWSOFT Network License Configuration(LMTOOLS) program, click the ReRead License File button under the Start/Stop/Reread tab, and the software will update the license file and enable port configuration.

Sometimes, if the software does not have permission to directly update the license file, you need to manually restart the service. The operation is as follows: Check ‘Force Server Shutdown’, then click Stop Server, ReRead License File, Start Server in sequence. The status bar at the bottom prompts Server Start Successful would suggest the procedure is done.

3. Go to the router setting, enter the port mapping rules. Some routers call it virtual server or NAT configuration, you can refer to the corresponding router's configuration manual. You should map both of the two ports that were fixed in the LicenseFile.lic.

The following router configuration is an example. On the Rule Editing setting page, both the External Port(this port is designated and opened by the user, and is the port used by the WAN IP address) and the Internal Port(the intranet port IP fixed by the ZWSOFT Network License service)  are appointed 63600, in this way we can avoid confusion. You can also choose to map the Internal Port to a different External Port. Fill in the IP address of the ZWSOFT Network License server for the Internal Host Address, and click the Add button to complete the port mapping settings.

If the mapping rule allows, you should map both ports(27000 and 63600) fixed by the LicenseFile.lic.

4. On the client computer, open the ZWCAD License Manager program, go to the Request a Floating License interface, and input the public/WAN IP of the server in the Server Name/IP option, and input the external port of the mapping rule in the Port option. Then click the query button, choose the corresponding license, and activate.

After successfully activating the license, you can go back to Request a Floating License, enter Configure only mode, input the intranet IP of the server in the Server Name/IP option, and input the port fixed by the LicenseFile.lic in the Port option. Activate.

In this way, notebook computer users can automatically switch to the corresponding network environment for authorization. whether in the company or in the field. Desktop computer users do not need to set the Configure only mode, just fill in the public IP and port.

Note: For users who do not have a public network IP, they need to use Network Address Translator software such as nat123 to map the intranet IP port to the public domain name address.
